Meet our board

I was gonnae wants to provide a forum for uplifting spirits, ensuring wellbeing whilst increasing knowledge to all in a community to ensure a happier, healthier home and to develop genuine individual and community progress. We believe that there is significant room for improving the performance within this sector and are passionate about improving and reintroducing excellence into the sector and be part of a paradigm change in how the services are delivered and managed for society as a whole.

chair - Joe wilson

Joe Wilson is currently Head of Digital Skills at City of Glasgow College.

A UK and international education consultant and the former Chief Executive of the College Development Network. His work mainly focuses on College and work-based education and its structures and practices. He is currently Co-Chair of ALT (Association of Learning Technology) in Scotland,  an SCQF Evaluator, a consultant for the British Council and has served as a domain expert for UNESCO around open educational practice. He has held a number of public appointments in Scotland over the last 20 years around youth , adult and community education and learning technology including board memberships of Anniesland, Clyde and Kelvin Colleges.

Previously a school teacher, an adult education tutor, a college lecturer and a senior manager in several Scottish Colleges before working for a range of national agencies and non-departmental public bodies.

He has an ongoing interest in On-Line Assessment and Open Education and is one of the co-developers of the Open Scotland Declaration. As Head of New Ventures at the Scottish Qualifications Authority, he secured a public statement of recognition in Scotland for Open Badges as a valid means to recognise achievement in formal and informal learning. Through his practice and consultancy, he remains an active evangelist for open educational practice, digital delivery and the on-line assessment of knowledge and skills. 

vice-chair - Colin cameron

Colin has a passion for leading and developing teams of people from across a multitude of backgrounds and disciplines.

This emanates from his career as a highly experienced leader having started as a mechanical engineer with a career path that progressed to business executive level in the Banking, Aviation and Energy Industries with over 40 years in Financial Services and Engineering Industries. He also has extensive global experience in and outside of Scotland across the UK, USA, Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa.

He has been a board member and participant at board level in regulatory approved roles in Financial Services for over 20 years.

He is also a certified Six Sigma Quality Leader and currently he provides advisory services on leading practices and industry benchmarks especially in the fields of risk management and operational excellence working with peer banks, and external agencies.

 

Colin believes there is so much untapped talent in Scotland and anything we can do to awaken this talent and help inspire them to realise their potential is the mission of I Was Gonnae.

Treasurer - iAN MCFARLANE

Ian has a passion for supporting, coaching and mentoring young and aspiring engineers, having come through a world renowned apprenticeship scheme starting in 1984 to become Director of Engineering for one of the West of Scotland’s pre-eminent engineering companies over 30 years later. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and helps his company’s younger engineers grow their skills to attain accreditation among their peers. 

Ian has many years expertise in providing governance and compliance to various engineering teams from different companies and across different sectors. Ian brings that wealth of experience to I Was Gonnae and provides support to Stuart and Callum.
